A COMPANY IN LINE AND COLUMN

S. 2. Formation of a Company in Column

Note: "In column" means that the company is part of a battalion (etc) column - i.e. the company itself is still formed up in a two deep line - do not confuse this with "As in File".

When the column is:

right in front

right, when in line, is in front

the left flank 

left in front

left, when in line

the right flank

on the principles explained in Part I., Section 32.

Caution,- AS A COMPANY IN COLUMN RIGHT (or LEFT) IN FRONT

On the caution,

When manoeurvring, the drummers and pioneers will also be in the supernumerary rank.
